Kaleo Urban Ministry Our desire is to equip young leaders for holistic
ministry to Boston and beyond…
We try to challenge and encourage emerging church
leaders through experience-oriented education and discipleship.
There are three ways for college students/young adults to get involved.
One week mission trip
– Join us for a week by taking on a specific service project
while developing relationships with people in the community.
Summer Internship –
Eight to Ten weeks living in community, studying, serving, learning.
Download an application. (Requires Adobe Acrobat reader).
Year long experience
– Commit to serving and living incarnationally for a year
in Dorchester working alongside Kaleo Ministries
Kaleo Urban Ministry allows the gifts of the individual
to help determine where they will be involved in the ministry. Where
they are passionate and come alive!

With Kaleo, its not just about service, it’s
also about growing in your walk with Christ individually, along
with the community. We will walk out our faith by practicing different
spiritual disciplines such as, study, worship, fellowship, prayer,
simplicity etc.
Intentional Christian community is a strong value
of Kaleo, therefore the students will live in community with one
another in close proximity to poor communities with whom they work.
The internships require students to develop a support
network (financially and spiritually with prayer). If desired Kaleo
can help students with the fundraising process by providing letterhead,
tax-deductible contributions, teaching to congregations, etc…

Kaleo Congregations
Kaleo has a vision to inspire and challenge congregations
to respond to the poor in their community and in the world. We seek
to develop local church leadership with the knowledge and skills
to teach about ministries among the poor and initiate their own
ministries among those in need.
Kaleo develops partnerships with local churches
and gives the congregations opportunities to come and serve in the
inner city. In turn, the Kaleo staff is willing to come to these
local churches once or twice a year to teach and challenge the congregations
to be a part of God’s global mission in and around their own
communities. We are by no means experts, but we would like to encourage
the church in America to be more effectively engaged in its mission
to the lost and to the poor. Some of the topics we teach include:
Church Planting Movements
Economic Development
God’s Heart for the Poor
Evangelism and Social Action
Developing Partnerships
God’s Global Mission
Incarnational Approach to Ministry

Indigenous Pastor Training
Kaleo desires to encouraging and equip pastors
to begin church planting movements in the 2/3’s world. We
would like to provide practical tools to graduating seminary students
transitioning to plant churches among their people.

Kaleo is in the process of partnering with an organization
in Liberia to identify emerging church leaders. We will provide
these pastors with professional training in emotional health, leadership,
and Microfinance. Training in emotional health focuses on the pastor
and their own spiritual formation. Next, training in leadership
focuses on the pastor’s actual ministry in their church and
community. And finally, Microfinance training focuses on providing
economic opportunities for pastor’s families as detailed in
the Empowering Pastor’s Wife (EPW) project.
