Another mission of Kaleo
is to assist in meeting the felt needs of the community. We want
to help heal the physical body of those who hurting. The two ways
we are currently making this a tangible mission is through:
Addiction Recovery – Christ-centered
drug and alcohol recovery ministry.
Economic Development – Empowering
Pastor’s Wives (EPW) by promoting access to Microfinance.
Addiction Recovery
Our desire is to help hurting people find freedom
in Christ. We use twelve-step teaching that is Christ-centered and
desire to help reconcile people to God, themselves and others.

Beginning in fall 2004, Kaleo will reach those
in the community addicted to drugs and alcohol using Christ-centered
principles. Knowing that hurting people help hurting people, we
recognize that all people have tendencies towards addiction in some
form and as leaders we are vulnerable to share our own struggles.
Kaleo will be working together with Quincy Street Missional Church
to connect those struggling with addiction to the local church body.
We will meet once a week for two hours, large group for the first
hour and small groups for the second hour. Everything we present
and all materials used will be founded on biblical principles.
Economic Development
Kaleo seeks to spiritually empower poor people
by responding to their physical needs. We desire to promote microfinance
and enterprise through the Empowering Pastor’s Wives (EPW)
project.
Kaleo is in the process of building partnerships
to help promote or teach microfinance and microenterprise to the
families of pastors who are a part of our Indigenous Pastor Training
in Africa. By helping start small businesses and encourage savings
groups we hope to help these familes become bi-vocational, thus
encouraging an indigenous church planting movement not dependant
on outside funds.
